Nayu Chavarría (San José, 1968–) is a self-taught visual artist with a university degree in Advertising and Marketing. She has pursued her independent artistic training with several renowned Costa Rican artists, including Ana Griselda Hine, Fernando Rudín, and Marcia Salas.

Her exhibition history includes the solo exhibitions When Color Speaks (Santa Ana Country Club, 2022) and Window to Art (Cartago Public Library, 2019). Since 2018, she has participated consistently in group exhibitions at venues such as Artflow Gallery, Sol Gallery, Talentum Gallery, 3Art Gallery, Center of Joy, Artelugio Gallery, Marina Flamingo, and Costa Rica Country Club. In 2026, she participated in Art’s Turn, Open Door, and Women’s Voices.

Her pictorial practice is rooted in an expressionist and abstract sensibility, using color, organic forms, and movement as vehicles for emotional communication. For Chavarría, painting is a form of existence and self-giving, expressed through an intimate language that transforms emotions, memories, and thoughts into visual matter. Her work seeks to foster connection, empathy, and a sense of optimism and emotional closeness with the viewer.
